Grandfather Gem Mine - Located on the Premises
The mining operation is simple. We provide all the equipment. Just clean the ore in our flume with wooden screens to find your precious gems. It's fascinating and fun for the whole family. You may take your find to Grandfather Gem Shop for identification, cutting and mounting. We offer $15.00, $20.00, $30.00 and $40.00 buckets that you may share.

Grandfather Gem Shop - Follow Your Bliss
Follow your bliss is our motto, a statement we like to live by at our store. This phrase is a quote by Joseph Campbell, renowned scholar and theologian, but mostly our hero because of the light he shed upon the earth through his writing.

Our intention is to further creatively enhance our community with artwork, imports, gemstones, wire art and three dimensional stained glass sculptures. We have an array of decorative stone fountains, garden quartz, and stone bookends; along with imported items from India, Brazil, Morocco, Russia, Aruba, Africa and other countries from around the world.
    
We meet people from all over the world and on any given weekend, there may be nine or ten nationalities fishing or gem mining together with their children.
    
Language is never a barrier because everyone knows what a smiles means here at the base of Grandfather Mountain.
